Things to live by

Things I live by and rules I believe in:

• Take chances- You can keep trying as many times as you fail to succeed and try again and again and just try your best and give it a shot.

I believe in this because my parents when I was younger and to this day say to keep trying even if you don’t succeed the first time. I have taken a lot of chances in various things before from sports to life situations. For example when I used to play baseball when I missed the ball I didn’t quit and give up I took a chance and kept trying.

• Live as honest as you can be- Everyone lies at some point in their life but being truthful is very important and lying can get you in a lot of trouble in various situations.

I believe in this just because I think it is important to be as honest as you can so people can trust you and you don’t get caught in drama or a lie. For example I have seen many people get in fights and drama by ones lies and they end up catching the person that lied or they split up and discontinue being friends. You can always get caught in a lie so it’s best to gain ones trust than get caught in a lie.

• Be thankful- be happy and glad for what you’ve got (family, friends, items, etc.).

I believe in this because everything can quickly disappear so it’s better to be thankful for what you got instead of asking for more and make best out of what you have. For example you may not like your cell phone or you may not like talking to your grandparents but both could be lost you could lose your phone somewhere or your grandparent may pass away in an accident. Or you should be thankful for having two parents instead of one because a lot of families suffer from divorce. Be thankful for what you have and enjoy each moment.

• Live your life to the fullest- Have fun and take chances and do as much as possible and have fun with your life.

I believe in this because life always comes to an end and can be short and there’s no point of wasting your time. Each moment can be fun and enjoyable so spend it wisely. For example you can have fun in life just by doing or trying simple things and have fun with it and do things that are daring or risk taking whatever makes you happy.

• Be positive- Look forward to events and believe you can achieve and do your best and put your mind to it and try to succeed.

I believe in staying positive because I think it is an important rule and it has a great impact on things and you make the best out of things when you believe and think you will accomplish it. For example last year at my track meet I thought I wouldn’t win the relay but I changed the way I thought around and I started thinking positive and I kept practicing and thinking I would win and it ended up I won. Staying positive has many rewards if you stick to it and think something can be done and accomplished.

• Try not to judge others- everyone judge’s things and people but try not to judge other people because they are a normal person just like you.

I believe this because I think it is a good rule to live by even though everyone judges people. People even point out problems of another and they actually have the same problem or they talk about how someone’s ugly and it hurts the other person. I’ve seen many problems in school and out of school that are caused by rumors about one another about someone judging somebody and somehow it reaches the person and they feel horrible or mad, not judging others is a important rule to at least attempt to fallow.

• Set goals- try to achieve your goals and try hard and do your best to achieve them all.

I believe in setting goals my family always sets their goals most of the time and I have just tried to fallow along most of the time and come up with my own and accomplish it. I used to not study and my test grades would be B’s C’s and D’s and all my homework would be all A’s and a few B’s, so then I realized I am doing well with everything except tests. So I made my goal to study and get all A’s and B’s on my tests. Each night I would study at least 30 minutes. The next test I got a C which was okay but not good enough so I tried study with different methods such as flashcards and other things. The next test I took was an A and so were the fallowing a test with a few B’s all my grades went up and I felt great that I accomplished my goal. Setting goals is important because you feel great once you have achieved them and you get many rewards

• Challenge yourself- If something may seem too easy try something harder that is more of a challenge and try to get through it okay.

I think that challenging yourself is a really important rule because if you feel something is too easy it’s good to challenge your self and try something that is harder and a challenge for you so you can advance over time and keep moving up and trying harder things until you fully accomplish each one. For example you have a choice to read a book in class there are three different books you pick the easiest and you know its way out of you league and you know you could handle something harder/ more of a challenge, it would be better to get the medium level book and once that gets to easy move to the harder book so you can do things and your level and accomplish them.

• Try to be friendly (to most people) - Being friendly to someone you may not like that much may lead to a better result and you can gain and make more friends.

I think that trying to be friendly to all people is a good rule because that person will feel happy and you can make more friends through it. For an example back around when I was in first grade it was my first year at this elementary I had friends but very few sense it was my first year and I had this one friend that was friends with this kid I really didn’t like I ignored him and wouldn’t talk to him. But one day I ended up not really caring and I thought I could make a new friend so we talked and hung out and we became friends for a few years but a few days later I gained even more friends and everyone was happy. It’s nice to be friendly to most people as possible even though it can be hard but in result you can make one happy and make many other friends.

• Be prepared- Know and bring everything necessary for an unexpected problem or an event so you are ready to handle it.

It is very important to fallow being prepared so you’re ready to handle spontaneous events that life may through at you. For an example you could be prepared with basic skills or you could have certain items you might end up having to use. Also if you were lost out in the woods for another example if you have the basic skills to survive then you were prepared an you could also be prepared by carrying Utensils and tools you might need to use to survive. Simple skills and knowledge or experience is being prepared. Another example may be studying each day and if you have a pop quiz you were prepared for it. Being prepared is an important basic rule to fallow and can benefit you in everyway.

Last weekened

Last weekend, was very busy and fun. On Saturday my friends came over Abbi, Kenzie, Eileen and Sam and we had a really fun time. First once we had everyone together we got some pizza from little ceasers which were a lot better than their usual pizza. For some reason it just tasted better it was crisp on the crust and the cheese and sauce were nice and warm.

Afterwards we all walked to Walgreens at 10 p.m. and the gas station to buy a couple monsters. We also stopped at the gas station on the way home and Abbi had a weird kind of conversation with the guy working there and he tried to sell us expired beef jerky then he started telling us "how it’s so good and he eats it expired all the time" which thought was pretty gross.

Then we walked home there were cop cars everywhere for some reason they were coming from every direction, it was like swarms of flies surrounding us but thank god they weren’t going for us or anybody else. They were just keeping a look out to make sure everyone was safe. When we got back to my house we headed out back for a bonfire and ended up in this old tree house that no one has stepped foot in since I was three and my new puppy fallowed us up there and we just sat and talked while I tried to keep the dog from jumping out and killing himself.

All the sudden it was silent and pitch black except we all had our phones out and were texting so it was exactly pitch dark. The dog was a pain to keep up there he tried every way to escape and wouldn’t give up but soon he was conferrable and just sat and the middle and slept.

It got to cold and windy out so we went into my room and sat down eating grand crackers. I don’t really know why we ate gram crackers I think Abbi brought them with her pink sobe drink.

Around one o’clock everyone started leaving and going home.

Valentines day

What I have learned about love is that you can have a relationship but you won’t exactly "love" the other person and want that person for the rest of your life until you’re a bit older because you can move on to another person sometimes. Also you can get caught up in drama and things end quick or sometimes not. You need someone that cares about you and you have good times with them makes you happy.

What I love about love is you can love many different things and people such as friends to music and you have someone there for you that you like. You can’t love someone and not love them back because it wouldn’t be “Love” if they don’t love you back.

My Plans for this Valentine’s Day is to hangout with Emily D. and probably see the new movie called Valentine’s Day. Also I plan on hanging out with Valen possibly over break and Kenna, hopefully Nikki too. Back In Elementary I remember making my whole class valentines and we all had cereal boxes with our names on ours decorated and I didn’t like writing everyone’s names and mine on each one.

Things I love:

My friends Sam, Eileen and Kenzie, Nikki, Kenna, Daniele, and more because they are all important to me (Especially Emily Duffy!)

My iPod because I like a lot of music I have over 250 songs.

Drawing because I like to draw and be creative with art.

Track and Field because it is my favorite sport.

My puppy I just got and he’s a mix of cocker spaniel and chiuaua.

My favorite movies are Jennifer’s Body because Megan Fox is a good actor and like scary movies, The haunting in Connecticut because it’s scary and it never gets old and it makes you jump as many times as you see it, and Nick and Norah’s infinite Playlists because it is an adventure kind of and it’s a funny love movie.

Grocery Shopping:

My Grocery total is $319.17 per month. I was surprised by how much everything adds up to and that it would cost a couple hundred dollars a month to pay for. My biggest expenses were the sports drinks which cost 10$ for 12 bottles and the dogs food for 13$.

Where I can cut back is I don’t need 12 bottles of sports drinks each week, I also don’t need to buy a new sauce of tomato sauce each week, or soy sauce, salsa, pizza, bagels, cucumbers, or soup, two packs of lettuce, chips or spaghetti noodles every week. Which might cut my monthly cost down around 50$ or more.

Car

Buying Car:

I chose the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. It has 52,564 Miles on it and costs $13,992 which is a good price for this used car. I chose it because it has everything I would need nice normal features such as a CD player and a radio and it is also in good shape and not old. I also picked it because I want a jeep when I’m older. It is charcoal colored and the interior color is khaki.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ten things I am grateful for is my friends because I don’t know what I would do without them especially Shannon, Emily and Abbi. I am also grateful for My family, Our house, Our food, My parents job, My school,

My best thanksgiving was back in 2007. Me and my family all got together and all my cousins from ST. Louis and Florida came too Michigan for thanks giving at my grandparents house. There was around like twenty people but all of them were relatives.

We played a bunch of board games which I didn’t personally like but it was fun to see them and hang out and watch T.V. and stuff. But that thanksgiving the food was the best the Turkey actually had flavor and it was nice and tender with tiny specs of seasoning with an interesting smell that spread across the whole condo. I don’t know why but I was stuck at the kids table because I was told “to watch the younger kids” but they were old enough to be alone plus my cousins wanted to sit with them anyways.

The dinner was good and we had some pretty funny conversations. Then it was desert we had ice cream and pumpkin pie. Of coarse I preferred the ice cream but this time I wanted to try pumpkin pie.

I remember my Uncle thronging a huge white glowing glob of whip cream on it and the pie didn’t look so appetizing. Once I tried it, it was really good.

My plans this holiday are…. Well I don’t really know but I think most of my cousins are meeting up with us at my grandparent’s condo and we will hangout there. I know that we are bringing home baked pumpkin pie and potatoes? I am not really sure but the rest of vacation I plan to hang out with a bunch of my friends at the mall and possibly bowling with abbi, kenzie, Sam, Eileen, Shannon and more people.

Normally on our thanks giving We have everyone one pitch in and bring a dish of food. We have Turkey, This weird brown potato with marshmallows melted on the top, pumpkin pie, ice cream, Corn, Mashed potatoes, Greens beans, rice, and a whole bunch of other stuff that I don’t know the name of.

Career Exploration

Artist:

There is no specific degree or certification in becoming an artist but most artists benefit on going to school and college but certificate and degree programs in fine arts is available in most colleges. Going to college is a benefit also because a post-secondary art program can provide artists with an understanding of the history, techniques, and different mediums of art. From going to school you also benefit from sharing ideas with classmates.

Alma college, Aquinas college, Calvin college, College for creative studies, Central Michigan University, Cranbrook Academy of Art, Eastern Michigan University, Ferris State University, Hope college, Lansing Community college, Madonna University, Marygrove college, Michigan State University, Oakland University, Saginaw Valley state University, Finlandia University, University of Michigan, University of Michigan-Flint, Wayne State University, and Western Michigan University all have the programs I need. Most take about four years to get necessary training and very few take two years minimum. It costs about $1,267,922,000 to get the necessary education and training.

Work I will be doing is a various wide amount of artwork from Painting, Drawing, to Architecture. An entry wage would be $20.19 hourly and annual would be 41,990. A median wage would be $30.82 hourly and annual would be $64,110.An experienced wage would be $40.69 and annual would be $84,640.

Industrial Designer:

A Bachelors degree is needed in industrial designing and is required. This is only in private colleges spreaded across the country. Schools require one year of basic Art and designing class before they can go into the bachelors program.

Artistic capability combines of Science and technology also problem solving and communication skills. Industrial designers should have an understanding of business skills too. Most workers need to be capable of working on their own in this job also.

Schools that support this program(in Michigan) are college for creative studies(Detroit Michigan, 4yr), Ferris State University(Big Rapids Michigan 4yr), Kirtland community college(Roscommon Michigan 2yr), Northern Michigan University(Marquette Michigan 4yr), Finlandia University(Hancock Michigan 4yr), University of Michigan(Ann Arbor Michigan 4yr), Washtenaw Community College(Ann Arbor Michigan 2yr), Western Michigan University(Kalamazoo Michigan 4yr).

For training it takes about two or four years of training at most colleges. Work I will be doing is consulting with marketers and manufacturers to decide what new products are needed, and how the product will be used. They also research the cost of the product, how it will be produced, and what materials will be used. Also design new products and style which is the main idea of the job.

After researching these they both seem like a really good job for me. After comparing though I think I would like being an Artist more and Do my own thing and create more various amounts of different types of projects. Also why I think being an artist would be better is because I like to do my own drawings at my own paste and make sure they have very good design and effort put into them. My second option I would choose would be an Industrial designer because that could also work because it has designing in it also. I am also thinking about going to an out of state college for becoming an artist’s because it would be a fun adventure to go to another state with a very good training program too. It also surprises me that there are a lot of colleges for both of these careers around the United states and most require two to three years of college. Also there are a lot more colleges for Artists. My Career pathway is Arts and communications for sure and I think I am going into college for training to become an artist and most likely out of state.
